Adventist Community Services (ACS)

Wheaton Seventh-day Adventist Church is a proud member of Adventist Community Services (ACS), a community outreach ministry where church members can serve their local communities through several of the following well-developed ministries:

Community Development-Urban Ministry
ACS Community Development provides vital help to individuals and families many of whom are unemployed, low-income, uninsured, and disadvantaged. It offers relief services and promotes individual and community development that includes equipping community members with skills to become self-sufficient and engages in public advocacy.

Crisis Care-Emotional and Spiritual Care
ACS Crisis Care equips and deploys volunteers to provide emotional and spiritual care for individuals traumatized by disasters and other critical incidents. Volunteers seek to provide the highest level of service in harmony with international standards of care and Christ's example of unconditional love.

Disaster Response
ACS Disaster response (ACS DR) empowers credentialed volunteers to respond to disasters throughout the North American Division. ACS DR volunteers are known as experts in handling donated goods and providing relief supplies to disaster survivors and responders. Partnerships with public and private sector, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies allow this ministry to provide the most effective and efficient aid in times of need.

Elder Care
ACS Elder Care volunteers address the needs of senior and their caregivers within their church and community. It offers educational workshops for individuals and churches and promotes Christ-centered, practical, and sustainable solutions to holistic aging.

Tutoring & Mentoring
ACS Tutoring and Mentoring cultivates trustworthy relationships that help the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth of children and youth, particularly those at risk or from low-income households. Volunteers provide individual support, care, and guidance that can help them achieve academic success.

Youth Empowered to Serve
Youth and young adults can be an important part of any ACS ministry. Youth Empowered to Serve (YES!) engages young people in service and compassion driven ministries through mentorship, leadership development, and action. Giving young people opportunities to serve challenges them to live like Jesus and become positive contributors to their communities and the lives of others.
